China makes technological and medical advancements

China makes technological and medical advancements.

Officials of China's National Health Commission (NHC) stated at a news conference on Thursday that advancements in medical research and technology innovation have been made during the previous 10 years, with a number of scientific and technological breakthroughs emerging.

The creation of new pharmaceuticals and the prevention and control of infectious diseases are two significant national science and technology programmes that the health regulator claims it has planned and led.

According to Liu Dengfeng, a representative of the Department of Health Science, Technology, and Education at NHC, 80 new medications in all have been approved for marketing, 16 times the number before the two initiatives began. All of the medications are brand-new, cutting-edge treatments that haven't been authorised and marketed anywhere else in the globe.

50 national clinical medical research centres have been formed in China, and they work in 20 fields that are connected to prevalent diseases.

In the area of biomedicine, 75 state-key laboratories have also been established. According to Liu, five national translational medicine institutions have been developed to help translate the findings of fundamental research into clinical practise.

According to the health watchdog, China's operations since the COVID-19 epidemic in detecting infections, undertaking origin tracing, and carrying out research and development of vaccines and treatments were depending on the technological platforms and medical expertise it had amassed over the years.

At the end of 2021, China had 4.28 million medical professionals, or 3.04 medical professionals for per 1,000 people. According to Liu, it is comparable to the standard of developed nations.
